Cairngorm Capital Partners LLP (Cairngorm Capital) is delighted to announce the appointment of Matt Anstead, Maria Mikhailova and Mark Robson to the firm’s investment team. All three will be based in the firm’s Edinburgh office. Cairngorm Capital has over £400m of committed equity capital. These appointments enhance the firm’s capacity to continue its disciplined investment selection, value creation and transformation strategies, which have delivered strong returns since the firm’s inception in 2014.
Matt Anstead joins as Managing Director following 8 years with EV Private Equity and will focus on investments that support the energy transition to Net Zero. He brings considerable experience of the energy sector, having spent over 20 years both as an executive and an investor in the UK, European, US and Canadian markets, working with businesses that are transitioning to sustainable forms of energy and emissions reduction. Prior to EV, Matt held senior roles in investment banking, consulting and equity research with Simmons & Co. International, Booz & Co. and Wood Mackenzie. Matt earned his engineering degree at Imperial College London and his MBA at London Business School.
With 15 years’ investment experience, Maria Mikhailova is relocating from Kyiv to join Cairngorm Capital’s team. She joins as Investment Advisor from Diligent Capital Partners, a private equity firm with a focus on Ukrainian agribusiness, export and technology investments. Earlier in her career, Maria was a member of the investment teams at Horizon Capital, a leader in Ukrainian and East European mid-market investments, and Western NIS Enterprise Fund (WNISEF), a regional private equity fund, funded by the US Government. Maria earned her Executive MBA from the University of Chicago’s London campus.
Mark Robson joins Cairngorm Capital as an Investment Associate, from Deloitte’s Edinburgh M&A advisory team. He is a Chartered Accountant with a strong background in corporate finance, spanning multiple industries. Mark will bring his expertise to sourcing new opportunities, executing transactions and supporting the management teams of Cairngorm Capital’s portfolio companies.
Matt, Maria and Mark join an existing team 12 investment professionals and 13 operating partners and associates, whose unique mix of sectoral expertise and investment skills has built a portfolio of 10 rapidly growing companies with over 6,500 employees and combined revenues in excess of £1.25 billion.
